Device Downlink

How to add the downlinks in the sigfox backend

1. Sign in to your sigfox backend account.

2. Ensure you have registered the device correctly by following the steps mentioned here.

3. Add the device ID in the search box and click enter.

   

4. Click on the ID to open the detailed info about it

   

5. Click on the "Device type" and a new window with details about the device type, etc. Click on edit on the top right corner as shown in the image below.

   

6. Once you click edit and the new window opens, make sure the following are added/selected properly. a. Downlink Mode: For more details on Downlink modes, please refer to documentation. b. Downlink Data in hex: The downlink data must be 8 bytes in hexadecimal format. c. Click OK, to save the downlink added.

   

   Now you have successfully added the downlink.

⚠ IMPORTANT NOTICE

Keep in mind that all devices registered under the same device type will have access to the downlink. This means that once a downlink is set, it will be requested by all devices of that type, either:

• Manually, through a direct downlink request.

• Automatically, via a heartbeat message.

Due to this, exercise caution when applying downlinks to avoid unintended changes across multiple devices. Always verify the downlink configuration before deployment. Remove/clear the downlink when not needed or when the device is modified as needed.
